From Lovely Lady A’s Perspective…
Let me just start by saying that I have never been comfortable in my own skin.... I have always been intrigued by empowering photo shoots and the amazing pictures that are made but I guess I never really thought about doing one myself....
I happened to come across a Facebook posting from LGEmerick Photography. I looked over the images on their page and I was blown away at the pure beauty Leah is able to bring out in all the women she shoots.
So I put in my information, and I received an email with details. I was over the moon excited and also nervous!! I was able to email back and forth with Leah and she put my mind at ease, so I signed up and let me tell you it was the best experience!!!
From the moment you walk in the door you are greeted with a hug, big smiles and amazing you are beautiful vibes!! They have customized the studio to fit each woman that comes in, from your favorite music to you name on a board welcoming you!!!
The makeup and hair session with Madee was amazing! She looked over the items I brought with me and helped me chose the best colors and tones to make the makeup look amazing!!!!
The photography session itself was also amazing! Leah will build up your confidence and make you feel amazing and beautiful! and the pictures she takes are so incredible!! The hardest part is picking which ones to buy!!!!
I would recommend this experience to every lady who doesn't like what she sees in the mirror... it opens up your eyes to the beautiful woman you really truly are!!!!!
From The Photographer’s Perspective…
When Lovely Lady A first reached out about a session, I could sense she was excited but hesitant. She had questions and concerns like:
scheduling her session around her every changing work schedule (any working moms out there know what I’m talking about!)
affording our collection fee (we got her all set up with a customized payment plan!)
if she would actually look beautiful in her images (to which my answers was… duh!!)
Her concerns and questions got me all fired up! I was stoked to create her own personal experience that fit her needs, budgets, and dreams of seeing herself in a new light. It was apparent that Lovely Lady A truly wanted to feel beautiful, but was being held back by those same demons that haunt so many of us. Could she make time? Could she afford it? Could she look like the girls on my pages?
I saw Lovely Lady A like a beautiful creature who was stuck in a cage of her own making. She didn’t belong in that cage! And it was my job to help her escape so she could live in the freedom of living in a body she loved.
When she arrived at my studio, I could see the wariness in her expression as well as the hesitant excitement. It was like she was at war with herself, both wanting to be there and wanting to run the other way! I gave her a big hug, took her bags of wardrobe choices, and introduced her to our hair and makeup artist. From there we dove into the experience…
While Lovely Lady A sat in the hair and makeup chair, being treated like a queen by our hair and makeup artist, I started going through her awesome wardrobe options. She brought so much personality in her options. I loved the option of the her sparkly black jump suit (a favorite look for her and her partner) and I knew I had to incorporate that! Sorting through looks, I chatted with Lovely Lady A about her life, her family, what was going on in her world. It was clear she had a very practical way of looking at life, but wasn’t afraid of adding a little edge. So I took that into consideration while I picked my top three looks and styled them from our extensive studio jewelry collection.
When hair and makeup was done and we were ready to dive into our shoot, I could tell Lovely Lady A was starting to feel more ready for what was to come. Seeing her hair styled in beautiful loose curls as well as her perfect red-carpet makeup really had her starting to believe she could do this!
Then we got started. I loved seeing her start in her ripped jeans and white shirt look, so sure that would be her favorite, and then progressing to a beautiful bustier, blazer, and leather leggings combo. I loved all the different elegant options she brought in! She was totally game for all the different fun posing ideas I threw her way. It was so fun and easy to photograph Brave Boss Babe M as she was willing to listen to my instruction and go with the flow. She was fully engaged in the experience and trusted that I wouldn’t lead her astray. That led to us getting some absolutely amazing images!!
At the same day viewing and ordering session (it happens RIGHT after we wrap the session) she had the biggest smile on her face looking at her pictures.
“That doesn’t even look like me!” she said.
I, of course, had to remind her that it 100% looked like her because - well - it WAS her! All of the images she saw on my big screen TV were not retouched, edited, or altered in any way. They were raw and perfect.
It is always so powerful to show each lovely lady that the inner strength they carry really does shine through in photos when given the chance. It is such an honor!
Lovely Lady A picked out several images, a gorgeous luxury album, and a piece of large wall art so she could showcase her gorgeous self for years to come. We are so proud of her and cannot wait for another amazing session.
